Satellite Connect Site Readiness Check

Civil works

Equipment for Intelsat based Satellite Connect has certain requirements regarding the site on which the equipment shall be installed.

NOTE
  • This page only applies to Intelsat based Satellite Connect.

Option 1: With NPM and Modem indoor inside a technical room

  • Soil excavated by 132cm x 94cm x 5cm
  • Foundation prepared by pouring concrete of 132cm x 94cm x10cm Note: Foundation must be heading South
  • 8 Concrete ballasts prepared of 50 x 50 x 5cm each
  • One 2inch conduit with no more than 45degrees elbows installed between the foundation and the technical room entry point then a cable tray used to lay over the cables all the way to the modem inside the rack.
  • Entry point to server room available (if applicable)
  • Grounding provided for the antenna and outdoor electronics
  • Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) available on site to feed the modem
  • Adequate lighting indoor available
  • Power socket or power distribution unit (PDU) available at the cabinet indoor where the modem can be powered up

Option 2: With NPM and Modem Outdoor in a cabinet

  • Soil excavated by 132cm x 94cm x 5cm
  • Foundation prepared by pouring concrete of 132cm x 94cm x10cm Note: Foundation must be heading South
  • 8 Concrete ballasts prepared of 50 x 50 x 5cm each
  • Outdoor ventilated cabinet of 7U at least is available and installed next to the slab with AC power
  • Grounding provided for the antenna and outdoor electronics
  • Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) available on site to feed the modem
  • Power cable of 2.5mm 3 cores pulled from customer power box to the cabinet with 2 breakers installed one for the rack fans and one for the modem

Option 3: With pedestal mount and modem inside the technical room

  • Ground excavated by 40cm x 40cm with 120cm depth to
  • Mount to be delivered by Intelsat prior to concrete pouring has 120cm been placed under ground, mount well levelled then concrete poured properly
  • One 2inch conduit with no more than 45degrees elbows installed between the foundation and the technical room entry point then a cable tray used to lay over the cables all the way to the modem inside the rack
  • Entry point to server room available (if applicable)
  • Grounding provided for the antenna and outdoor electronics
  • Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) available on site to feed the modem
